Early in high school, she went on tour in the country with the Marine Band, and then with the band “Parfum d’Afrique.” Her experience broadened as she toured with well-known Ivoirian musicians Beta Simon, Tiken Jah, and Fadal Dey.

Awa Melone's musical career took off following a tour in West Africa, where she arrived in Ouagadougou, Capitol of Burkina Faso. She was then solicited by Seydoni Production to work at the studio. This was an opportunity for her to work with several national and international artists. She then joined the group Djogon System, with Bil Aka Kora, and performed in European countries, among them Austria, France, and Switzerland.

Proud of this experience, she decided to aim for a solo career. She recorded her first successful song “Djion Melon” with the group “Gang Rebelle.” She then started a two month tour in France where she performed in many cities in 2005. Two years later she made her first album “Plus d’Amour,” and it was then recorded live at Seydoni Productions with the best talented musicians from Burkina Faso.

The new album, using exceptional recording quality was mixed and masterized at TRAX 52 Recording Studio in the United States. The album is a fusion of Blues, Jazz and Mandingo music with African flavor. “Plus D’Amour” has eight titles in French or Dioula (African language). In the album, Melone is calling for more understanding between people, solidarity, and above all, PEACE and LOVE. From handicapped child to the elderly, Melone exhorts all of us to listen to each other, and to extend our help to everything.
